DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Jed Homer (LMU/ODSL)\n\nORIGINS Data Science Lab (OD
SL) is pleased to invite you to the Statistics Block Course 2026\, taking
place from 21st September to 2nd October 2026 at the  A348 Theresienstr.
37.This two-week programme is designed for PhD students in physics who app
ly statistical methods in their research. Interested MSc students from LMU
and TUM are also very welcome.\n\nThe course will be split into two thema
tic blocks:\n\n\nBlock 1: Probabilistic Reasoning – An introduction to t
he fundamental concepts of Bayesian statistics\, covering probability theo
ry\, parameter estimation\, model comparison\, and practical applications.
\n\n\nBlock 2: Statistical Inference – An introduction to the key method
s of Frequentist statistics\, including hypothesis testing\, confidence in
tervals\, and advanced inference techniques.\n\n\nFor MSc students it is p
ossible to take this course for credit (6 ECTS credit). There will be a wr
