Description
The B factories were planned to study primarily CP violation in the B
meson system, by running at the formation energy of the Y(4S).
As an unexpected gift they also rekindled interest in hadron
spectroscopy with the discovery of many new and sometimes puzzling states.
B factories also collected event samples of more than 100 M at each of
the narrow Y resonances to study the bottomonium system I will review
the status of the so-called XYZ charmonium-like states and some of the
first results on the bottomonium spectrum I will also discuss the
perspectives for heavy quarkonia in future experiments
