Description

The many different ways to compactify string theory lead to a large collection of effectively four-dimensional vacua, commonly known as the string theory landscape. In this talk, I will discuss some features of the vacua in the landscape. After a brief introduction to the compactifications that give rise to the vacua, I will turn to the discussion of their stability. I will discuss different decay channels for vacua, and how these affect the large-scale structure of the resulting four-dimensional spacetime.
