Description
Plenty of experimental and theoretical efforts were made to understand the behaviour of hadrons immersed in a strongly interacting environment, which is either created in a lab, like a fireball formed in heavy ion collisions, or has an astrophysical origin, like super-dense neutron stars.
In this talk I will explain why the behaviour of kaons produced inside the nucleus is arguably the best case for the search for in-medium effects.
I will present results obtained in proton-nucleus collisions measured at 3.5 GeV beam energy at HADES (GSI) and their interpretation with help of a transport model that can simulate the production and the propagation of kaons inside the nucleus, including their interaction with the collective of nucleons in terms of the mean field potential resulting from Chiral Perturbation Theory
