Description
In the last decades huge theoretical effort was devoted to the development of consistent theoretical models,
aiming to overcome the difficulties that standard quantum mechanics meets in accounting for the measurement
(or macro-objectification) problem. Among these, the Dynamical Reduction Models (DRMs),
based on nonlinear and stochastic modifications of the Schrodinger equation, possess the unique characteristic
to be experimentally testable, thus enabling to set experimental upper bounds on the characteristic parameters.
The main concepts of DRMs will be outlined. The spontaneous radiation emission process,
from which the most stringent limit on the collapse rate parameter λ was obtained, will be described.
