"Heavy Ion Physics with the LHCb Detector"

Designed as a heavy flavour experiment for the study of CP violation and rare decays, the LHCb physics program today also covers heavy ion collisions and fixed target interactions with proton or lead beams. The talk presents physics potential and results of the experiment in this area.
