Description

The XYZ states are quarkonium-like exotic hadrons, for which so far we do not have a clear picture about the physics behind them. A lot of models have been proposed. A model-independent way to look at the XYZ states based on QCD is using an effective field theory called potential nonrelativistic QCD (pNRQCD). Using pNRQCD, We study the spin splitting in heavy quarkonium hybrids, which is a bound state of a heavy-quark-antiquark pair in a color octet state together with a gluonic excitation. We derive the spin-dependent potentials from first principles in the short distance regime. We obtain the relevant nonperturbative information from lattice data and predict the bottomonium hybrid spectrum.
