Description
The JUNO (Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory) project in China is aiming for high precision measurements in the field of low energy neutrino and astroparticle physics. Main goals are the determination of the neutrino mass ordering and the accurate measurement of neutrino oscillation parameters by high resolution spectroscopy of reactor neutrinos. In addition solar neutrino spectroscopy, the search for the diffuse Supernova neutrino background (DSNB) and the search for proton decay are main goals of JUNO. In case of a Supernova burst in our local group JUNO would measure a strong neutrino flavour dependent signal at high statistics. The JUNO detector will consist of an acrylic sphere with 35m in diameter, holding 20,000 tons of a liquid scintillator, which acts as neutrino target. In the talk I will review the main scientific topics of JUNO and I will present the status of the experimental set-up.
