F. Saueressig: Asymptotically Safe Gravity - A pedagogical introduction

We give a concise introduction to the Asymptotic Safety program for quantum gravity, before surveying the recent developments in the field. On the fundamental level we will focus on the evidence supporting the existence of the non-trivial UV-fixed point at the heart of the conjecture. As an interesting application, the status of black holes within Asymptotic Safety will be critically surveyed. This will also shed new light on the question whether the UV-fixed point can correspond to a conformal field theory.
