Description
Many physicists like science fiction, and one of the most successful science fiction series is Star Trek. It is an interesting question whether or not the physics and astrophysics shown in Star Trek has something to do with reality or whether it is pure fiction. In this talk we will have a closer scientific look on some selected physical phenomena like the warp engine, the transporter, the communicator, Geordi La Forge's visor, explosions in space, worm holes and tachyons. Do these items stand a scientific analysis?
The Universe Colloquium is followed by a social gathering with wine and cheese.
