Description
A new narrow structure at a mass of 1.4 GeV with axial-vector quantum numbers coupling exclusively to f0(980) π has recently been observed by the COMPASS experiment and confirmed by VES. Interpretations of this intriguing and unexpected resonance-like peak range from a 4-quark state or molecule to interferences of the a1(1260) resonance with non-resonant processes. In this talk a possible explanation in terms of a dynamic singularity will be discussed. A similar mechanism may be invoked to better understand the nature of some of the structures observed close to thresholds in the heavy quark sector.
