Hadrons in matter: from the laboratory to stars

In this talk I will review a few aspects of strange and charm hadrons in nuclear matter and nuclei. I will discuss the possible experimental signatures of the in-medium properties of these hadrons, in particular in connection with the future FAIR facility. Moreover, I will address dense hadronic matter in neutron stars and the consequences for certain neutron star observations, such as the mass, the radius and oscillation modes.
