In recent years, transient surveys have dramatically increased the discovery rate of transients that fall outside the standard supernova classification scheme. This topical workshop will focus on these peculiar and unexpected events. During this workshop that closes the four-week programme, 'The Physics of Supernovae', we will attempt to bridge the gap between theory and observations of these unusual transients, while also developing strategies to exploit next-generation transient surveys.
