Description
After a brief reminder of the origin of some of the systematic uncertainties in phenomenologically oriented lattice computations, I shall discuss two topics. First, I will address the status of computations of the nucleon sigma terms (both non-strange and strange) by the BMW collaboration. Second, I will address the (large) size of cut-off effects in charmed quantities with clover-improved Wilson fermions, e.g. in the hyperfine splittings (cc and cs). Time permitting, I shall add a few thoughts how these problems might be mitigated with Brillouin fermions.
