Top mass from Asymptotic Safety

Description
I will introduce the main idea of the asymptotic safety scenario, which is mainly explored as a model of quantum gravity. I will highlight that it might at the same time provide an ultraviolet completion for the Standard Model of particle physics. Finally, I will show first hints that indicate that such a setting might even reduce the number of free parameters of the Standard Model, and turn the top mass into a predictable quantity. Within simple approximations of the Renormalization Group flow for gravity and matter, the theoretical value of the top mass obtained from asymptotic safety lies in the vicinity of the observed value.
