Probing the Higgs potential at present and future colliders

Since its discovery in 2012 a wealth of information has been accumulated on  the couplings of the scalar particle at 125 GeV of mass to vector bosons and third generation fermions. All of which so far compatible with the SM expectations. Despite its importance,  no confirmation on the shape of the Higgs potential is currently available from collider experiments. Determining the scalar potential necessarily implies measuring the strength of the Higgs three-  and four- (and possibly higher) point self couplings, entailing the study of multi-Higgs final sates.  In this talk, I summarise the inherent difficulties of making such measurements and interpretations at colliders, and explore the possibility of accessing complementary information from precision measurements in single and double Higgs production or in EW observables, through loop effects. I illustrate the potential as well as the subtleties of such an approach, presenting the perspectives at LHC High-luminosity run and at future colliders.
