Special Universe Talk: Insights from high resolution (multi-band) spectroscopy – an application to the ejecta of classical novae

Abstract: Classical novae (CNe) are relatively frequent explosive transient phenomena. The brightest galactic events can be studied through high resolution (HR) spectroscopy year after the outburst. Using high resolution multi-wavelength spectroscopy we investigated the ejecta kinematic and geometry producing a consistent picture of the ejecta and its evolution across the electromagnetic spectrum and time. We also constrained the dust location, size, and evolution in dust forming novae. In this talk I will review our recent results in the context of CNe explosions and their implications, as well as future steps toward a better understanding of this "side effect" induced by accretion onto a white dwarf.
