Description

In this talk, I will briefly review the current status of the Standard Model prediction for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, focusing on hadronic contributions. We are currently facing a multitude of discrepancies, not only the long-standing one between the theoretical prediction and the experimental value for g-2, which was confirmed by the first result from the Fermilab g-2 experiment, but also between different theoretical predictions based either on lattice QCD or hadronic cross-section input, and even discrepancies between different experiments used as input. I will explain strategies to scrutinize the theoretical prediction and discuss recent developments in the calculation of hadronic contributions to the muon g-2.
