Description
Unveiling the nature of dark matter is arguably one of the most pressing research questions in science today. In this context, the experimental technique known as dark matter direct detection will be pivotal in the next decade. It primarily searches for nuclear recoil events induced by the scattering of Milky Way dark matter particles in low-background detectors. The MIAPP programme "Astro-, Particle and Nuclear Physics of Dark Matter Direct Detection" has focused on this experimental technique from a cross-disciplinary perspective, bringing together physicists from three traditionally disjoint scientific communities. In this talk, I will summarize some of the new ideas that have been presented, discussed and developed during this stimulating and successful event.
