Excursion to LNGS 2018

Gran Sasso and L'Aquila

This is an excursion to LNGS for students of the Astroparticle Physics and KTA expert lectures.

Thursday and Saturday will be spent mostly traveling (~10 h bus ride). On Friday morning, we will go to L'Aquila, a historical city and capital of the Abruzzo region. There we will visit the Gran Sasso Science Institute and have a tour to parts of the closed city center where you can still witness the destruction caused by the 2009 earthquake and the ongoing restoration work. After a lunch break in the LNGS canteen, we will visit the underground laboratory with many neutrino and dark matter experiments.

​Transfer, hotel with breakfast, and group dinner on Friday will be payed for by the university.

Thursday 26 April

07:00 → 19:00 Bus transfer: Departure at TUM Stammgelände (Arcisstraße 21) at 7:00.

Friday 27 April

08:00 → 13:00 Visit of L'Aquila

13:00 → 14:00 Lunch break in LNGS canteen

14:00 → 17:00 Visit of LNGS Underground Lab

18:00 → 21:00 Dinner in L'Aquila

Saturday 28 April
