The very narrow mesonic state X(3872) has puzzled theorists since the time of its discovery. Some of its properties, like the mass, can naturally be explained by assuming it to be a pure DD* molecule, whereas some other properties are more naturally explained if one assumes that it is a charmonium bound-state. In this talk, a heavy quark effective field theory framework will be introduced, which incorporates both of these pictures in order to achieve a more consistent description of the X(3872)-meson.
