Abstract: The long-lasting discrepancy between the inclusive and exclusive determinations of the CKM element Vcb is an unlikely signal of New Physics, but it hampers significantly the precision program in flavour physics. I will review our understanding of inclusive and exclusive semileptonic b to charm decays and discuss recent theoretical and experimental progress, as well as future prospects.
